The Supersonic boost has an interesting performance profile. The drive put in an excellent performance in the random 4K write test where it significantly outperformed more expensive drives but it scored very poorly in the random 4K read test. So where does that leave us? Well it really depends on the intended use for the drive. The strongest aspect of this drives performance is its outright read speed which is a very respectable 85MB/s and for most flash drive users that's the figure that's going to make the most difference. [Jun '12 USBFlashPro]

For real world usability this is currently the best 64GB flash drive (superseded by the Ventura Ultra - 2014). It has a very balanced performance profile with an exceptional 4K random write speed. The 16GB version of the Extreme is currently the value leader in the USB 3.0 flash drive shootout. At present there are no viable alternatives to the 64GB Extreme in fact the Corsair voyager GT turbo is the only drive on the horizon that may challenge the Sandisk any time soon. There are however several reports (Newegg, Amazon) of compatibility issues with this, the 64GB version (other versions are fine), so if you do go for the 64GB version, don't throw the receipt away in a hurry. [Feb '13 USBFlashPro]
