The V3 MAX is Verbatim's 2013 upgrade to the Store n go range of high performance USB 3.0 Flash Drives. Verbatim have promised a blisteringly fast 175 Mbps read and 80 Mbps write speed for this flash drive. Considering our experience with the V3 Store n go which we reviewed last year, these figures may well prove to be conservative! We won't know for sure until we do a full review of the V3 MAX (still difficult to get hold of in the UK) but in the mean time, assuming Verbatim's figures are correct, this drive will be amongst the faster USB 3.0 Flash Drives we have reviewed. One area we will be watching closely is the real world copy speed, a test where the V3 Max's predecessor struggled. To conclude this drive promises to be one of the faster USB 3.0 Flash Drives on the market but at over £20 there is almost certainly better value for money elsewhere. [Jun '13USBFlashPro]
The Kingston DataTraveler Rubber G2 has a robust (water/shock resistant) form factor and an above average performance profile for a 32GB flash drive. Comparing the performance of the G2 and G1 shows that peak speeds are largely unchanged but average user speeds are significantly faster on the newer G2. We only have three samples of the 32GB G2 at present so we can't form a strong opinion yet. In terms of pricing the G2 is reasonable and is thus currently ranked 8th/27 in the 32GB group test. We will update this review when we have more performance samples. [Jul '14USBFlashPro]
We highlight the best USB flash drive in terms of balanced performance and value for money using current prices, sequential read, sequential write , 4k read and 4k write speed. The speeds are combined to form a single effective speed which measures performance for tasks such as copying photos, music and videos. Effective speed is adjusted by current price and capacity to yield value for money. Finally thousands of individual user ratings are used to validate our benchmark figures. [USBFlashPro]
