The Rage XT offers above average read performance but, like several of the other USB 3.0 flash drives we have reviewed, it has an asymmetrical performance profile which significantly favours reading over writing. For some use cases that won't pose much of a problem but for most users the drive will be limited by its relative inability to write quickly. For the level of performance offered we find the Rage XT overpriced. There are far better deals to be had which offer both faster all round performance and come at a lower price. [May '13USBFlashPro]
We highlight the best USB flash drive in terms of balanced performance and value for money using current prices, sequential read, sequential write , 4k read and 4k write speed. The speeds are combined to form a single effective speed which measures performance for tasks such as copying photos, music and videos. Effective speed is adjusted by current price and capacity to yield value for money. Finally thousands of individual user ratings are used to validate our benchmark figures. [USBFlashPro]
