USB 2.0 is old tech, so in terms of performance this drive is less than half as fast as its USB 3.0 counterparts. Interestingly the 4K write speed is reasonable at 0.4 MBps. If you plan to move a lot of data to and from the drive you will be much better off with one of the faster USB 3.0 drives. That said, the SE9 has a beautiful form factor and is both rock solid and relatively light making it ideal for use on a keyring. [Nov '12 USBFlashPro]

MORE DETAILS

This is one of the Kingston's newest flash drives and yet another drive from Kingston with no claimed read or write speeds on the official documentation, not an encouraging sign (Kingston have since quoted Read/Write speeds of 40/10 MB/s). With a sequential write speed of 9.9 MB/s and a random write of 0.046 MB/s This drive is actually slower at writing than a lot of USB 2.0 drives, it's seriously dog slow. I really don't understand why Kingston have released a flash drive with specs like this but then I guess they didn't write the speed in the specs for a reason! There is no reason to buy this drive, as there are far better USB 3.0 flash drives out there for approximately the same money. Kingston's own DTR30 is a far better drive for an extra five pounds. If you really don't want to spend more than £10 then the Verbatim Store n Go V3 is better for the money. [Jun '13 USBFlashPro]

USB Flash Drive Rankings (Price vs Performance) August 2021 USB Rankings.

We highlight the best USB flash drive in terms of balanced performance and value for money using current prices, sequential read, sequential write , 4k read and 4k write speed. The speeds are combined to form a single effective speed which measures performance for tasks such as copying photos, music and videos. Effective speed is adjusted by current price and capacity to yield value for money. Finally thousands of individual user ratings are used to validate our benchmark figures. [USBFlashPro]
