Average Bench: 143% (2nd of 639)

Based on 38 user benchmarks.  Device: VID 174c PID 55aa Model: Mushkin Ventura Ultra

The Mushkin Ventura Ultra USB 3.0 has a Sandforce controller coupled with MLC NAND. This combination produces mediocre results for an SSD but for a USB flash drive its small file 4K performance is staggering. Comparing the Ventura Ultra and Sandisk Extreme shows that for small file IO the Ventura is around 200% faster than the Extreme. The Extreme has faster peak write speeds but overall the Ultra leads by a whopping 72%. The Ultra is a great choice for hosting Operating Systems or for use as boot media (check mobo. compat.) where its small file performance and low access times will reduce load times by orders of magnitude. Thanks to its exceptionally reasonable pricing, the Ultra topples the Extreme as my top USB pick for both value for money AND overall performance. [May '14 USBFlashPro]

What can I say, but it beat out my WD Black Label 1Tb FZEX HDD by a LARGE margin, as this is really an SSD in a USB 3.0 flash drive package. If you want the absolute best USB 3.0 flash drive in the world, this is it! SanDisk Extreme? Forget it, it's garbage by comparison to the new Mushkin Ventura Ultra SSD in a USB 3.0 config. Let's put it best this way, it's faster than USB 3.0 can handle, as it is maxed out on other benchmarks.—Sep '14

Based on the comments, & specs. I am looking forward to getting my hands on one...two... :) Excellent review!—Nov '14

I am responsible for the lowest benchmark for this drive (as of yet). The benchmark was preformed immediately after transferring an 8GB file to the drive. The drive gets very hot very fast, even while idle, not transferring data. It gets so hot that it should probably have a warning label. After the drive gets hot, which only takes about 5 or 10 minutes, the transfer speed drops significantly, to about 30 MB/s read and 20MB/a write. Disappointed!—Sep '15
