DataTraveler Ultimate G3 USB 3.0 64GB

This is the third incarnation of what was once kingston's flagship flash drive. This version has a full metal body and comes with a retractable head, an improvement over the G2. In terms of speed the drive has strong sequential headline figures but they are not chart topping by any means. The 4K random write scores are very disappointing, surprisingly they even lag the older G2. We don't think the G3 makes a lot of sense at its current price of £50. As other manufacturers release their second and third gen. drives, there will be far better deals to be had later on this year. At the moment the brand new Corsair GT Turbo looks like it might be a contender but the sure thing is the chart busting Sandisk Extreme which redefined 4k random write speed expectations. ^{[Feb '13 USBFlashPro]}
